Christmas Lights

日本では本当に美しいクリスマスイルミネーションが見れる。多分、イギリスのイルミネーションより日本のイルミネーションの方が綺麗だろう。よく見る。毎年、Kyoto　Hotel　Okuraのイルミネーションは素晴らしい。京都駅のクリスマスツリーは素敵。でも、本当のクリスマスの雰囲気がないと思う。ヨーロッパのクリスマスの雰囲気は特別な雰囲気。ヨーロッパの文化の中でクリスマスは一番大切な時。でも日本ではクリスマスよりお正月の方が大切な時。だから、本当のクリスマスの雰囲気がない。でも、美しい。

In Japan you can see really beautiful Christmas illuminations. I would even say they were more beautiful than British Christmas illuminations. I look at them a lot. Every year The Kyoto Hotel Okura's illuminations are wonderful. Kyoto Station's Christmas tree is lovely. But I think there isn't a real Christmas atmosphere. In Europe the Christmas atmosphere is a very special atmosphere, In European culture Christmas is the most important time of the year. But in Japan the New Year Period is more important than Christmas. Therefore there isn't a real Christmas atmosphere. But it is very beautiful.

Chicken on a Stick

僕のアパートの近くには２つ焼鳥の店がある。　その料理が大好き。その上、雰囲気が大好き。イギリスには同じ店がない。テーブルよりカウンターの方が楽しいと思う。 ビールを飲みながら,マスターが僕の焼鳥を焼くのをいつも楽しく見ている。焼鳥はビールによく合う。大抵、焼鳥一番に行くけど、最近大吉にも行く。焼鳥は種類が多いです。僕は四つ種類が好きです。はさみはチキンと葱の焼鳥、すごく美味しいから、いつも食べている。つくねはめっちゃ美味しいチキンの肉団子。　肝は鳥のレバーの焼鳥、体にいいと思う。豚バラは焼鳥じゃなくて、豚肉だから、でも焼鳥一番と大吉は非常に美味しい豚バラを提供している。最近、一週間に２階焼鳥の店に行く。

Near my flat there are two yakitori restaurants.  I love yakitori, grilled chicken on skewers. Furthermore, I love the atmosphere. There are no places like these in Britain. It is more fun to sit at the bar than at a table. I always enjoy watching the landlord barbecuing my yakitori. Yakitori goes really well with beer.  Usually, I go to Yakitori Ichiban, but recently I have been going to Daikichi too. There are many types of yakitori, there are four kinds I really like. Hasami is chicken with spring onion, because it is so good, I eat it everytime. Tsukune are really tasty chicken meat balls. Kimo is chicken liver and I think it is very healthy.　Butabara is not yakitori, because it is pork, but both Yakitori Ichiban and Daikichi serve wonderful Butabara. Recently I got to a yakitori restaurant about twice a week.

Horse and Carriage on Karasuma Street

今日の11時ぐらい烏丸御池でその馬車を見た。本当に珍しいものだと思う。イギリスで馬車をよく見たけど、日本ではこの馬車しか見たことがない。知らない政治家が乗っていた。　イギリスに住んていた時、いつも好きな候補に投票していた。でも、外国人だから、日本で投票ができない。だから、有名な政治家だけ知っている。例えば、大阪の橋下市長はよく知っている、でも京都に住んでいるけど、上の写真の京都の政治家を知らない。その政治家は覚えにくいけど、馬車を見て嬉しくなったから、馬車のことはずっと覚えているだろう。
Today at around 11am in Karasuma-Oike, I saw this horse and carriage. I think it is really unusual. I often saw horse and carriages in Britain, but only this one in Japan. There was an unknown, to me, politician riding this carriage. In Britain in elections I always voted for my favorite candidate.  But because I am not Japanese, I cannot vote in Japan. Therefore, I only know famous politicians. For example, I know a lot about Osaka's Mayor, Mr Hashimoto.  But even though I live in Kyoto, I do not know this Kyoto politician.　For me this politician is difficut to remember, but because seeing this horse and carriage made me happy, I will remember it for ever.

Dublin アイリッシュパブ Irish Pub

昨日、五人生徒さんと一緒に木屋町御池のアイリッシュパブ、Dublinに行った。昔、そのパブに良く行った。でも、最近たまにしか行かない。大抵、ブルチーズピザを食べる。そのピザはすごく美味しい。昨日、忘年会からいろいろな美味しい食べ物をたべた。ドイツのソーセージはうまかった。Dublinのフィッシュアンドチップスはめっちゃ美味しい。いろいろなビールがある。僕のオススメはKillkenny、そのビールはうまくて飲みやすい。スタッフはとても優しくて面白い。和やかな雰囲気がある。
Yesterday, with five of my students I went to Kiyamachi-Oikes Dublin Irish pub. I used to often go there, but recently I only occassionally go. Usually, I eat the blue cheese pizza, it is unbelievably delicious. Yesterday was a end of year party, so we ate a variety of delicious foods. The German sausage was very tasty. The Dublin's fish and chips are fantastic. They have a variety of good beers, my recommendation is Killkenny, it is both tasty and easy to drink. The staff are friendly and entertaining. It has a friendly atmosphere.
